These fabulous long earrings are Circa 1900
They are set with pearls and yellow amber
Amber occurs in a range of different colours, but it is mostly yellow, orange or brown.
Golden-yellow amber is usually hard, translucent resin from evergreen pine trees.
Amber can also occur whitish to pale lemon-yellow and brown to nearly black.
Early physicians prescribed amber for headaches, heart problems,
arthritis and a variety of other ailments. In ancient times,
amber was carried by travellers for protection.
The pearls have a wonderful lustre and rich creamy over tone.
They are natural, a pearl is composed of calcium carbonate in minute crystalline form,
which has been deposited in concentric layers.
They weigh 9.6 grams
Perfect for a wedding.
The earrings have screw fittings but can be converted
to pierced at minimal cost.
These earrings measure 85mm from top to bottom
and the yellow amber stones measure W 5mm, H 17mm
